Daily Prompt Ideas

Setting Prompt
Go to Wikipedia and click Main Page on the sidebar. What article is featured? Write a story that shares the same setting.

Picture Prompt
Go to Flickr. What is the first collection you see under the Trending tab? Click it and write a story or poem about the first picture.

Word Prompt
Go to WordThink. What word is listed under "Today's Word of The Day"? Use that word in a sentence of today's free-write. Who knows? It may launch into a short story or, eventually, your first novel!


Character Prompt

People-Watch (As Non-creepily As You Can)

What kinds of people did you encounter today? Did you go to the doctor, dentist, school, or just shopping? What was your cashier like? Just spending a few seconds with somebody can introduce you to a quality or a flaw your new character can have.

Naming Your Character
When thinking of your character's name, think of their personality and what sound like something fitting to a person who is either the hero or the villain or anybody in between. Or, have fun with the name and create one that foreshadows their destiny in the story.

      i.e. Luna (origin meaning "of the moon") = she later becomes a werewolf
